Sangiovese 2016 Reserve
First planted in 1968 as an experimental vineyard, Sagmor Vineyards is one of the original High Plains vineyards. The Sangiovese block was planted in 1985 to the Brunello clone of Sangiovese by none other tham C.M. "Doc" McPherson. Over the years, this vineyard block has become one of the most consistent yielding blocks of quality Sangiovese in Texas. McPherson Cellars uses whole berry fermentation and extended time on the skins to create a wine with exceptional depth and varietal character. Aging exclusively in French oak barrels for over 12 months adds a beautiful texture and complexity to the abundant red locorice and black cherry cola aromas. Supple tannins and a characteristic racy acidity are in harmonious balance. This is truly a wine of distinction.
